May 24, 2019: Today, the students constructed questions based on topics they will see on the Final Exam and I typed them into a Quizlet. The Science Final Exam Review Guide is posted in my Google classroom. Students will need to print off the review guide. An answer key will be posted shortly.

May 20, 2019: Today, the students received the correct answers for the incomplete and codominance practice problems. The students learned how to construct and interpret pedigrees. 7E was able to start the Fainting Goats review activity. The students will take the Genetics Quiz on Thursday, May 23rd. May 16, 2019: Today, the students worked on the incomplete and co-dominance rotation problems. 7E finished the rotations. 7L will finish on Monday. Both classes will get the correct answers to the problems on Monday. The Genetics Quiz is scheduled for Thursday, May 23rd.
May 15, 2019: Today, the students watched a video about incomplete and co-dominance. They were also able to start a rotation activity that reviews these two types of genetics problems. They will complete this activity tomorrow. The students do not have homework tonight.
May 13, 2019: Today, the students took notes about codominance and completed the Easter Egg Genetics Activity. They turned in the Easter Egg Genetics packet. The students were also able to construct a flower based on the results of an incomplete or co-dominance problem. The students do not have homework tonight.
May 10, 2019: Today, the students took notes about incomplete dominance. They then practiced constructing and analyzing Punnett squares using Easter egg genetics. The students do not have homwork this weekend.
May 9, 2019: Today, the students completed the back side of the Mice Genetics WS. They then watched a Bill Nye Genes video, wrote a haiku about the information, and read the haiku to the class. The students do not have homework tonight.
May 8, 2019: Today, the students learned how to construct and analyze Punnett squares and completed their dragon babies. If students did not finish their dragon babies, they need to finish for homework and turn in tomorrow. The students do not have homework tonight.
May 7, 2019: Today, the students learned how to determine the genotype and phenotype for a trait. They then paired up to determine nine traits for a dragon baby. They will complete the dragon baby tomorrow. The student's homework tonight is Genetics Vocab Thinking Questions.
May 6, 2019: Today, the students wrote definitions for 8 vocabulary terms related to our new genetics unit, and matched up the terms to pictures. The students do not have homework tonight.
May 2, 2019: Today, the students completed the Observing Chloroplasts Activity and turned it in. They also took the Photosynthesis Quiz. Finally, the students worked on, and many finished, the Photosynthesis Color by #. I collected the finished ones. If students did not finish coloring the worksheet, it is for homework, and due Monday.
May 1, 2019: Today, the students observed chloroplasts under the microscope. They sketched a plant cell and identified three organelles. They will complete this activity tomorrow, then take the Photosynthesis Quiz. I did not pass back the color by # WS. I will give it go them tomorrow to complete. The students will take the Photosynthesis Quiz tomorrow.
April 30, 2019: Today, the students worked on a color by # review worksheet and watched a video about photosynthesis. Many students did not finish the coloring worksheet so it will be given back to them tomorrow and assigned to complete for homework. Students will take the Photosynthesis Quiz on Thursday, 5/2.
April 29, 2019: Welcome back! Today, the students completed a photosynthesis puzzle review and received the correct answers for it. Both classes took the photosynthesis practice quiz. 7E went over the correct answers for it. 7L will go over the correct answers tomorrow. The photosynthesis quiz is scheduled for Thursday, May 2nd.
April 17, 2019: Today, the students constructed two graphs about factors that affect photosynthesis in plants. The students also answered three questions for each graph (six questions total). The students turned the graphs and answers in for a grade. The Photosynthesis Quiz has been scheduled for Thursday, May 2nd.
April 16, 2019: Today, the students crushed spinach and purple cabbage onto a coffee filter and separated the pigments using chromatography. The students answered questions about the activity and turned in the worksheet. The students do not have homework tonight.
April 15, 2019: Today, the students went over the question on the article/questions/vocab homework and turned in the vocab/questions WS. The students wrote a haiku from a photosynthesis video and read the haikus to the class for credit. The students were able to set up two photosynthesis graphs as well. The students do not have homework tonight.
April 12, 2019: Today, the students completed their Leaf/Photosynthesis Model. There are pictures of the final product in the slideshow in my google classroom for absent students. The vocabulary/questions WS is due Monday, 4/15. The students received this WS and article on Wednesday.
April 11, 2019: Today, the students worked on their leaf model. Both classes will finish the model tomorrow and turn in for a grade. Students received a photosynthesis article with a questions/vocab WS. The questions/vocab WS is due Monday, 4/15.
April 10, 2019: Today, 7E continued work on their leaf model. I did not see 7L due to the testing schedule. The students do not have homework tonight.
April 9, 2019: Today, the students worked on their leaf/photosynthesis model. They colored the inside of the leaf. Tomorrow, they will color the outside and start putting the model together. The students do not have homework tonight.
April 8, 2019: Today, the students took notes about photosynthesis. They will complete the notes tomorrow. The students do not have homework tonight.
April 5, 2019: Today, the students designed an experiment for a magazine advertisement. They did a good job! They shared their experiments with the class. The students do not have homework this weekend.
April 4, 2019: Today, the students watched a Bubble Gum commercial and identified its claim, problem statement, variables, groups, and constants. Tomorrow, they will construct a poster for the same things, but for a magazine advertisement. The students do not have homework tonight.
April 3, 2019: I did not see the 7th grades today due to the testing scheduled. The students do not have homework tonight.
April 2, 2019: Today, the students gathered information about a topic that will be on the IOWA Test. They wrote summary statements on an index card and shared the information with the class. Absent students and students who did not share their information today will share tomorrow. The students do not have homework tonight.
April 1, 2019: Today, the students took an IOWA standardized practice test. We went over the answers and the students chose one question they got wrong. They looked up information about the topic to write on an index card. The students will complete this activity tomorrow and will then share the information they found. The students do not have homework tonight.
March 29, 2019: Today, the students took the Human Body Systems Quiz. They wrote a reflection statement for the Earthworm Dissection and they were able to take home their clay bone. The students do not have homework this weekend.
March 28, 2019: Today, the students dissected an earthworm. They did a good job! The students will take the Human Body Systems Quiz tomorrow, March 29th.
March 27, 2019: Today, the students color-coded the anatomy of an earthwork and watched a video of an earthwork dissection. This helped students prepare for the earthworm dissection tomorrow. The students will take the Human Body Systems Quiz on Friday, March 29th.
March 26, 2019: Today, the students took the Human Body Systems Practice Quiz. Answers are posted in the google classroom. They also were able to observe an earthworm to identify four parts. The Human Body Systems Quiz is scheduled for Friday, 3/29.
March 25, 2019: Today, the students finished presenting their human body system disorder slides and they presented their skeletal project. A Human Body Systems Quiz is scheduled for Friday, March 29th. The skeletal system projects were due today. With the exception of absent students, points will be taken off for each day the project is late.
March 22, 2019: Today, the students presented their human body system disorder slides. There are a few groups who have to finish presenting on Monday. The skeletal projects are due Monday, March 25th. A copy of the instructions can be found in Google classroom.
March 21, 2019: Today, the students worked on their human body system disorder slides. If students are not finished with the slides, they must finish them tonight by 8PM. They will present their body system disorder tomorrow during class. The skeletal project is due Monday, March 25th.
March 20, 2019: Today, the students completed the urinary system notes/activity. They then chose a human body system disorder to started designing slides about it. They will complete the slides tomorrow and present to the class on Friday. The skeletal project is due Monday, March 25th.
March 19, 2019. Today, the students watched a video about human body systems and wrote information about different topics discussed by the video. The Skeletal Project is due March 25th.
March 18, 2019: Today, the students took notes about the urinary system and made a simple model of the urinary system. This is the last human body system the students will study. The skeletal system project is due March 25th.
March 15, 2019: Today, the students took notes about the cardiovascular system and wrote a haiku from an FAQ worksheet about the heart, blood vessels, and blood. The skeletal system project is due Monday, 3/25.
March 14, 2019: Today, the students answered analysis questions for the lung model they made yesterday. They then watched a Bill Nye Respiration video. The students will get a 12x18 piece of construction paper tomorrow for the skeletal project, which is due March 25th.
March 13, 2019: Today, the students took notes about the respiratory system and made a model of the lung/diaphragm system. They will finish the model questions tomorrow. The skeletal project is due March 25th.
March 12, 2019: Today, the students checked their nervous system notes with my slideshow of notes. The students then made a model of a nerve cell, or neuron, using pipe cleaners. The skeletal project is due March 25th.
March 11, 2019: Today, the students read information about the Nervous System in the textbook. They then answered questions on their notes sheet. We will go over the nervous system notes tomorrow. The students received worksheets for the the skeletal system project, which is due March 25th. I will show students examples of the finished product tomorrow.
March 8, 2019: Today, the students took notes about the skeletal system and make a model of a human bond out of salt clay. The students do not have homework tonight.
March 7, 2019: Today, the students completed their digestive system notes and watched a skeletal/muscular system video. The The students do not have homework tonight.
March 6, 2019: Today, the students started their digestive system notes. They watched two videos pertaining to the digestive system. Today is the last day to turn in late work. Students can email me late work as well by taking a picture of it and attaching it to an email.
March 5, 2019: Today, the students finished their cinquains and read them to the class. They did a great job! Please check Powerschool to check for any missing work. Google Classroom is a great resource to find replacement worksheets and slideshows. All late work is due to me by the end of the day Wednesday, March 6th. No late work will be accepted after Wednesday.
March 4, 2019: Today, the students finished watching the Bill Nye Digestion video. We went over the answers in class and the students kept the worksheet as part of their notes. The students then chose an organ as inspiration for a Cinquain poem they will write tomorrow. All grades have been posted in Powerschool for Trimester 2; no more grades will be added. Please check Powerschool to check for any missing work. Google Classroom is a great resource to find replacement worksheets and slideshows. All late work is due to me by the end of the day Wednesday, March 6th. No late work will be accepted after Wednesday.
March 1, 2019: Today, the students turned in their Hierarchy Pyramid of Human Body Systems. This is the last grade for Trimester 2. The student started watching a digestion video. They will finish the video on Monday. The students do not have homework for the weekend.
February 28, 2019: Today, the students worked on the Hierarchy Pyramid. Many students finished the assignment. For any student not finished, they need to finish it for homework. A picture of the pyramid is in google classroom.
February 27, 2019: Today, the students worked on their Hierarchy of Pyramid of Body Systems. Tomorrow, they will cut out and glue the pieces onto their pyramid. Today, they color-coded the pieces. The students' Flower Dissection Lab Report is due today! Everything students need to complete the lab report is in my google classroom.
February 26, 2019: Today, the students took the Meiosis Quiz and started putting together a puzzle-piece hierarchy pyramid for our next unit, Body Systems. The Flower Dissection Lab Report is due tomorrow. All information needed for students to complete this lab report is in my google classroom.
February 25, 2019: Today, the students took the Meiosis Practice Quiz. They also worked on gathering information for the flower dissection lab report. The students will take the Meiosis Quiz tomorrow. The lab report is due Wednesday. Information for completing the lab report is in my google classroom.
February 22, 2019: Today, the students worked on the discussion questions in Part 4 of the flower dissection lab. The typed Flower Dissection Lab is now due Wednesday, 2/27. The Meiosis Quiz is scheduled for Tuesday, 2/26. A video and directions have been posted in Google Classroom that explains how to insert a cover page into the document and how to complete the lab report.
February 21, 2019: Today, I walked the students through completing the Flower Dissection Lab Report. The Lab Report Template is in Google Classroom. The students need to make a copy of the template and save it to their google drive. I showed students how to insert a cover page. The Dissection Lab Report is due Tuesday, 2/26/19. The students' homework tonight is Meiosis Review #2 HW.
February 19, 2019: Today, the students dissected a daffodil flower. One student took a picture of the dissected flower and shared it with their group. The students will get an opportunity to share the picture next class period if they didn't get to today. The students have homework tonight, titled, Meiosis Review #1. HW.
February 15, 2019: Today, the students color-coded parts of a flower and watched a short video about meiosis. This will prepare the students for the flower dissection video on Tuesday. The students do not have homework this weekend.
February 14, 2019: Today, the students completed Part 1 for their flower dissection laboratory assignment. They also labeled parts of a flower. The students' homework is to complete Part 1 questions if not completed in class. Pictures of the textbook pages are in google classroom.
February 13, 2019: Today, the students watched Bill Nye Flowers video. The students were able to start Part 1 on the Flower Dissection Lab Report. The students received the correct answers to the Meiosis Color by #. Their homework is to complete the Color by # tonight.
February 8, 2019: Today, the students took notes about Meiosis and Sexual Reproduction. These notes and slideshow can be found in my google classroom. The students also began a Meiosis Color by # activity, which they will finish on Monday. The students do not have homework this weekend.
February 7, 2019: Today, the students participated in Cell Cycle Scramble Game. They had a substitute teacher today. The students do not have any homework.
February 6, 2019: Today, the students sketched and measured their garlic plant for the last time. They wrote three paragraphs about their garlic plant and turned in their looseleaf with the paragraphs and the Garlic Mitosis Worksheet. The students put their HeLa cell artwork in plastic sleeves, ready to hang up. The students do not have homework tonight.
February 5, 2019: Today, the students took the Mitosis Quiz and completed their HeLa cell art. The artwork looks really good! The students do not have homework tonight.
February 4, 2019: Today, the students took the Mitosis/Asexual Reproduction Practice Quiz. The practice quiz and answer key are posted in Google Classroom. The students then worked on their HeLa cell art. They will take the quiz tomorrow and will be able to complete their HeLa cell art tomorrow as well.
January 31, 2019: Today, the students were able to see the growth of their garlic. They will measure and sketch their garlic for the last time next week. The students were able to lightly sketch a HeLa cell of their choosing.. The students will take the Mitosis/Asexual practice quiz on Monday and the real quiz on Tuesday.
January 29, 2019: Today, the students were given information about Henrietta Lacks, the woman whose cells are 'immortal'. The students will choose an art medium to turn one of her cells into artwork. The mitosis/cell cycle/asexual reproduction quiz is scheduled now for Monday, February 4th. The date will not be changed again (unless we have a day off for snow.)
January 28, 2019: Today, the students took asexual reproduction notes and measured/sketched their garlic plant for the third time. Students were also given time to complete their mitosis foldable. Students not finished with the foldable in class need to finish them at home and turn them in tomorrow. The Mitosis/Asexual Reproduction Quiz is scheduled for Thursday, 1/31.
January 25, 2019: Today, the students worked on completing their Mitosis Foldable. Many students finished but many did not so they will get about 15 minutes on Monday to complete it. A Mitosis/Cell Cycle quiz will be scheduled for next week. The students should organize and review information this weekend for the quiz.
January 24, 2019: Today, the students sketched and measured their garlic plant. They were able to start their mitosis foldable. Their homework tonight is the Cell Cycle/Mitosis HW worksheet.
January 23, 2019: Today, the students observed their garlic. Most garlic bulblets have grown root nubs! The students completed the mitosis/cell cycle notes and watched a short video about mitosis. The students do not have homework tonight.
January 22, 2019: Today, the students took notes about mitosis and prepared their garlic bulb for growth. The will measure and sketch a garlic bulb a total of four times. The students do not have homework tonight.

January 15, 2019: Today, the students measured their gummi bears for the third and last time. They wrote a conclusion statement for the activity, then turned in their conclusion statement with the interactive osmosis worksheet for a grade. The students do not have homework tonight.
January 11, 2019: Today, the students measured two gummi bears and then placed them into water for an osmosis activity. They then completed an online osmosis interactive website. Finally, they re-measured the two gummi bears. They do not have homework for the weekend.
January 10, 2019: I did not see the 7th grade classes today due to the midterm schedule. The students will take the science midterm test tomorrow. The students will get an mRNA chart to use on the test. They will not need their calculators; there are no proportion/math problems on the test.
January 9, 2019: Today, the students received the correct answers to the organic molecules scramble review activity. The students completed a pro/eukaryotic cell review and an enzyme review activity. The science midterm is Friday. The students are allowed to use a calculator and their mRNA chart on the midterm. I will have extra mRNA charts the morning of the test.
January 8, 2019: Today, the students worked on an organic molecules review activity. We will go over the correct answers tomorrow. The students' homework is to continue to review for the science midterm, scheduled for Friday.
January 7, 2019: Today, the students completed an organelle review activity. This activity and the answers are posted on Google Classroom. The students' homework is to review for the science midterm Friday. The review guide and answers are posted in my Google Classroom for students to use to prepare for the midterm.
January 4, 2019: Today, the students completed notes about osmosis. 7L was able to complete three cell diagrams. 7E needs to complete the fill in the blank below the notes chart. Both classes should have turned in the Diffusion Beaker/Baggie WS and Conclusion Statement. The students' homework is to check their midterm review guide answers with the answer key. The answer key will be uploaded to my Google Classroom by 8PM tomorrow (Saturday). They should bring any questions they have to class on Monday.
January 3, 2019: Today, the students observed their diffusion model and wrote a conclusion statement for it. 7L was able to complete the conclusion statement. 7E will get about 5 minutes tomorrow to complete the conclusion statement. Both classes are expected to turn in the statement with the worksheet for a grade. The students' homework is to continue completing the midterm review guide. I will upload the answers this weekend. I am not collecting the review guide. I have encouraged students to work through the review guide on their own before accessing the answers to increase content retention for when they take the midterm. The Science Midterm is scheduled for Friday, January 11th.
January 2, 2019: Today, the students took notes about diffusion and set up a model of diffusion. They will answer questions and write a conclusion statement for the diffusion set-up tomorrow. The students' homework is to download and complete the midterm review guide, if they haven't done so already. The midterm review guide can be found in my Google Classroom. I will upload the answers this weekend. I encourage students to work through the questions by reviewing slideshows, homework assignments, quizzes, etc. The students should bring any questions they have Monday, 1/7, so we can go over them.
December 20, 2018: Today, the students constructed a model of the three types of transport in the cell membrane and drew sketches of them on their notes sheet. The students were also able to watch a video about the cell membrane. The science midterm review guide is posted in my google classroom. The students can download the review guide and start answering the questions over Christmas Break. The students will get answers to the review guide in January.
December 19, 2018: Today, the students took notes about passive and active transport. The students then completed their cell membrane ornaments. They look really cute! The students do not have homework tonight.
December 18, 2018: Today, the students completed their cell membrane notes. They made a model of a cell membrane and sketched and labeled parts of it. The students were also able to add membrane and transport proteins to their cell membrane ornament. The students do not have homework tonight.
December 17, 2018: Today, the students used pointillism to decorate a circle cutout like the cell membrane. They will be adding to their cell membrane every day. The students also started their Cell Membrane notes. Their homework is to start organizing their papers by topic in preparation for the midterm exam in January.
December 14, 2018: Today, the students took the Nucleic Acids Quiz. Students were able to finish their marshmallow person, if necessary, after the quiz. The students do not have homework this weekend.
December 13, 2018: Today, the students took the nucleic acid practice quiz. Both the quiz and quiz answers are posted on my Google CR. The students then solved a DNA riddle that gave directions to make a marshmallow person. If students were not able to complete the person today, they will get an opportunity to complete it tomorrow. Students need to study for the nucleic acid quiz scheduled for tomorrow.
December 12, 2018: Today, the students were given time to complete the protein synthesis quote activity. I collected this worksheet. The students' homework is to determine the genes for their Unicorn and color the unicorn accordingly. The got the unicorn activity yesterday. The unicorn is due tomorrow. A nucleic acid quiz is scheduled for Friday, 12/14.
December 11, 2018: Today, the students continued to work on the protein synthesis 'quotes'. They will get about 15 minutes tomorrow to finish the assignment. The students' homework is to complete the unicorn activity. This activity is due Thursday, 12/13. A Nucleic Acid Quiz is scheduled for Friday, December 14th. The students will take a practice quiz on Thursday.
December 10, 2018: Today, the students started the protein synthesis quote assignment. They are converting DNA to mRNA, then to amino acid language. Words are the amino acids and the quotes represent proteins. Their homework is 'Nucleic Acids HW' worksheet.
December 6, 2018: Today, the students participated in a retreat. They do not have homework for the weekend.
December 5, 2018: Today, the students were given time to finish their Dream Taco assignment. They turned this assignment in. There were many students out of class due to band. They need to complete the taco at home and return it ASAP. The students do not have homework tonight.
December 4, 2018: Today, the students finished their mystery taco and began their 'Dream Taco' assignment. The students will get about 20 minutes tomorrow to complete it. The students' homework is to complete the 'Nutrition Label Math Problems Google Form.
December 3, 2018: Today, the students took the Nucleic Acid notes and began identifying ingredients in their mystery taco assignment. The students will continue the taco assignment tomorrow. The students should review their notes tonight for homework.
November 30, 2018: Today, the students completed a day of service. They did a great job! The students do not have homework for the weekend.
November 29, 2018; Today, the students completed and turned in their Lipid Lab. They turned in their Lipids as Insulator Intro WS, graph, and conclusion statement. The students then solved a puzzle as an introduction to nucleic acids. The students do not have homework for the weekend.
November 28, 2018: Today, the students graphed their results for the lipid lab. They were also able to begin their conclusion statement. The students will get time in class tomorrow to complete their conclusion statement. The graphs, however, need to be complete for tomorrow. The students will turn in the data WS, graph, and the conclusion statement tomorrow for a grade.
November 27, 2018: Today, the students collected data for the lipid/insulation experiment. Their homework is to review their Lipid notes.
November 26, 2018: Today, the students watched a video about the Inuit diet and took notes about lipids. They also participated in a review activity about nutrition label math calculations. The slideshow and notes worksheet can be found in Google Classroom.
November 20, 2018: Today, the students took the Enzyme Quiz and completed the notecard enzyme activity. If students did not finish the enzyme notecard activity they can finish at home tonight and turn in tomorrow. There is no homework tonight.
November 19, 2018: Today, the students took the Enzyme Practice Quiz. The practice quiz and answers can be found in my google classroom. The students also started a 'notecard' enzyme project. They will finish the project tomorrow after they take the Enzyme Quiz.
November 16, 2018: Today, the students received the correct answers to the enzyme graphing WS. The students were also able to work on 'Enzyme Thinking Questions'. Both of these activities will help to prepare them for the Enzyme Quiz scheduled for Tuesday, 11/20. The students will receive the correct answers for the thinking questions on Monday and will also take the practice quiz. The students' homework is to review their notes for the quiz on Tuesday.
November 14, 2018: Today, the students wrote a conclusion statement for the catalase enzyme lab. On a clean sheet of paper, they wrote the problem, hypothesis, and the conclusion statement. They turned this paper in for a grade. Absent students and students that did not finish can access these questions from the slideshow on google classroom. The students will take an enzyme practice quiz on Tuesday, 11/20.
November 13, 2018: Today, the students gathered data in an experiment that showed the effect of temperature on the reaction rate of catalase enzyme from potatoes. The students will write a conclusion statement for the experiment tomorrow. The Enzyme Quiz is now scheduled for Tuesday, 11/20.
November 12, 2018: Today, the students received a science skills brochure and learned how to construct data tables for experiments. The students also got a small amount of time to work on their enzyme graphs. An enzyme quiz has been scheduled for Friday, however, I will probably move it to the following week.
November 9, 2018: Today, the students finished their notes and discussed the intro to enzymes activity from yesterday. They turned this worksheet in. The students were also able to start the enzyme graphing activity. They will finish the graphing activity on Monday. The students do not have homework this weekend.
November 8, 2018: Today, the students took the front page of Enzyme Notes and took observations of a tomato, potato, and carrot in hydrogen peroxide. We will discuss the results tomorrow and then students will turn this worksheet in. The students do not have homework tonight.
November 7, 2018: Today, the students took the Protein Quiz. After the quiz, they were able to complete their Thanksgiving Dinner Protein activity. They did a really good job! The students do not have homework tonight.
November 5, 2018: Today, the students took a Protein Practice Quiz. The answers can be accessed through my Google Classroom. The Protein Puzzle answers are also there. The students were able to work on one last protein simulation. The students will finish this simulation on Wednesday before they take the Protein Quiz. The students' homework is to study for the quiz on Wednesday.
November 2, 2018: Today, the students simulated the process of protein synthesis by making a fruit loop chain. The students also participated in a protein puzzle contest. A Protein Quiz is scheduled for Wednesday, 11/7/18. The students will get a practice quiz on Monday.
November 1, 2018: The students answered thinking questions about their protein keychain. They turned these questions in. A protein quiz has been scheduled for Wednesday, 11/7/18. Their Protein Haiku is due tomorrow.
October 31, 2018: Today, the students made protein keychains. They do not have homework tonight. Happy Halloween!
October 30, 2018: Today, the students completed their notes, completed the paper chain flow chart steps, and wrote a connection statement between the paper chain activity and how a protein is made in our bodies. The students turned this worksheet in. The Protein Haiku is due on Friday.
October 29, 2018; Today, the students took some notes about proteins and simulated the process of protein making in the body by making a paper chain. The students will finish the notes tomorrow. The students received directions on how to complete the Protein Haiku assignment. I will go over the requirements tomorrow. The haiku is due Friday.
October 26, 2018: Today, the students took their Carbohydrate Quiz. The students were also able to present their poems. They did a really good job! The students do not have homework this weekend.
October 25, 2018: Today, the students completed their Carb Poems. The students will present their poems to the class tomorrow. The students will take the Carb Quiz tomorrow as well. The students need to review their notes in preparation for the quiz tomorrow.
October 24, 2018: Today, the students took the Carbohydrate practice quiz. The students also got the correct answers for it. The answers will be posted in my Google classroom. The students were able to start a 'Dr. Suess rhyming poem' about carbs. They will get about 15 minutes tomorrow to complete it. The students' homework is to review for the quiz on Friday.
October 23, 2018: Today, the students completed a Carbohydrates Puzzle Contest activity. They received the correct answers to this worksheet review. The students also read through an article about carbohydrates. For homework, students are to complete the Google Form which can be found in my Google Classroom. A Carbohydrate Quiz is scheduled for Friday, 10/26.
October 22, 2018: There is no homework tonight; students were on a field trip.
October 18, 2018: Today, the students completed the Glucose Model Thinking Questions and turned it in with their color coded sketch of the glucose molecules. The students also completed a Nutrition Label Proportion math activity. The students' homework is to come up with their own nutrition label proportion problems. We worked through examples on the worksheet. Their two word problems with answers should be written on a piece of looseleaf.
October 17, 2018: Today, the students made a model of glucose using mini-marshmallows and toothpicks. They drew a color-coded sketch of it and included a key. They began answering thinking questions about the activity. The students will finish the thinking questions tomorrow during class. Their homework is to review notes about carbohydrates.
October 16, 2018: Today, the students completed and turned in the Starch Test Observations/Analysis Paragraph activity. The students also finished their Carbohydrate Notes. The Starch test can be found in the Carbohydrate slideshow in my Google Classroom. The students do not have homework tonight.
October 15, 2018: Today, the students took some more carbohydrates notes, modeled monosaccharides and polysaccharides with pop it beads, and took before and after sketches of fruit during a starch test activity. The students will complete their carbohydrate notes tomorrow.
October 12, 2018: Today, the students watched a video about bacteria and wrote a haiku poem about it. They read them aloud to the class for a grade. Absent students will be excused from completing this assignment. The students were also able to take their bacteria magnets home. They are very cute! The students were able to start notes about Carbohydrates. They will finish the notes on Monday. I collected their drill worksheets.
October 11, 2018: Today, the students made marble magnets for a bacteria craftivity. They will hopefully bring home the magnets tomorrow. They do not have homework.
October 10, 2018: Today, the students completed the Bacteria Experiment Conclusion by filling out a Google Form. This assignment can be accessed in my Google Classroom. Students who did not finish or were absent will need to complete it at home or next Tuesday during recess. There is a picture on Google Classroom for students to use to complete their google form.
October 9, 2018: Today, the students were able to join my Google Classroom. I sent invites to students who were absent or who could not access the google classroom. These students should check their e-mail to accept the invite. Students should finish the 'Spiders and Music' graphing activity and conclusion statement for homework tonight. This was the sub work from yesterday.
October 8, 2018: Today, the students worked on a Spiders and Music graphing activity (sub work). I will take questions about the assignment tomorrow, then the rest of the assignment will be for homework tomorrow night. The students do not have homework tonight..
October 5, 2018: The students took their Pro/Euk Quiz today. The students do not have any homework.
October 4, 2018: The students took the Pro/Eukaryotic Practice Quiz today. The answer key is below. The students also set up a bacteria experiment. Their homework is to study for the Prokaryotic vs. Eukaryotic Quiz that is scheduled for tomorrow.

October 3, 2018: The students completed their Organelle Cell Art project today during class. A few groups had to complete theirs during recess. They look really good!! The students will take a Eukaryote/Prokaryote Practice Quiz tomorrow in preparation for the actual quiz on Friday. The students' homework is to review notes in preparation for the quiz on Friday.
October 2, 2018: The students continued to work on their cell organelle art project in class. The students should be able to complete this project tomorrow. Their homework tonight is 'Prokaryotic vs. Eukaryotic Cells HW', due tomorrow.
October 1, 2018: Today, the students worked in teams of three to color code a bacteria, plant, and animal cell. They will complete this assignment tomorrow. It is a combined art and science project. Their homework is to review notes about prokaryotic cells.
September 28, 2018: Today, the students completed their notes about prokaryotic cells. They also answered the multiple-choice questions in the packet. I shared with students information about Hansen's disease, a bacteria that causes leprosy. The homework for students this weekend is to complete the Venn diagram students started in class. They should use the Pro and Euk reading WS to complete this assignment.

September 21, 2018: Today, the students took the Cell Organelle Practice Quiz and continued work on writing their 'shape poetry' about one specific organelle. Their homework is to study for the Organelle Quiz on Monday, 9/24. I uploaded a blank copy of the practice quiz below. The formatting is not correct, however, because of the conversion between word and google. The practice quiz answers are posted below as well.

September 20, 2018: Today, 7L started their 'shape poetry' organelle poems. They will be able to complete this activity tomorrow. 7E was given time to complete the Pizza Cell Organelle activity. They will not be able to use any more class time to complete it. Most students completed this activity. I am available during Tuesday's recess to make up work. The students will take the Cell Organelle Practice Quiz tomorrow and the actual quiz on Monday, 9/24.
September 19, 2018: Today, 7L completed the Pizza Cell Activity. I gave them credit for completing it and they kept the assignment. A few students did not complete the activity and they need to finish on their own time. 7E will get about 20 minutes tomorrow to complete the Pizza Activity. A Cell Organelle Quiz is scheduled for Monday, 9/24. The students will get a practice quiz on Friday. Their homework tonight is the Cell Organelle Quiz Review WS.

September 17, 2018: Today, the students matched up organelles to objects. They visited 10 stations and justified their connections to the objects and organelles. The will continue the Felt Cell Pizza activity tomorrow. They do not have homework tonight.
September 7, 2018: Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! Today in class your child was given a newsletter, an opening slideshow, and they worked on a first day activity. Their homework for the weekend is to share the newsletter with their parents and complete the first day activity, if needed. Most students were able to complete the activity in class.
September 10, 2018: The students hypothesized functions of organelles found in cells by looking at pictures. They then took notes about the actual functions of the organelles. The students do not have homework tonight.
September 11, 2018: Today, the students matched up pictures to organelles found in cells and justified a connection statement. The students also labeled the organelles found in plant and animal cells. The students have no homework tonight.
September 12, 2018: Today, the students in 7L worked on a Pizza Cell Organelle assignment. They will be working on this assignment for several days in class. The students in 7E only watched a few minutes of a video due to Mass running long. Their homework, for both classes, is 'Cell Organelle' homework' worksheet.
September 13, 2018: Today, 7L homeroom students continued to work on the Pizza Cell Organelle assignment. The students in 7E began the assignment today. Both classes will continue tomorrow. They do not have homework tonight.
September 14, 2018: Today, the students continued work on the Organelle Pizza Cell activity. Students in 7L should be able to finish this assignment on Monday. Students in 7E will probably finish on Tuesday. The students' homework this weekend is to read over their notes on organelles.
